SUMMARY:Training: Navigating the Complexities of Providing Reflective Supervision or Consultation
DESCRIPTION:Join the North Carolina Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health Association (NCIMHA) for this interactive training on reflective supervision or consultation on May 29 from 12-2pm via Zoom. \nReflective supervision/consultation (RSC) asks supervisors and consultants to navigate a delicate balance: supporting reflective growth while also addressing performance concerns\, accountability\, and identity. How do we offer honest feedback in ways that deepen self-awareness rather than create shame or defensiveness? What happens when our administrative role intersects with the reflective space? And how do we remain curious and connected while holding difficult conversations? \nThis interactive virtual training invites RSC providers to explore these common dilemmas alongside experienced reflective facilitators and colleagues from across the field. Through authentic case vignettes\, small-group discussion\, and collective reflection\, participants will examine the complexities of balancing relationship\, feedback\, and accountability within reflective practice. \nThe cost is $50 for members of any Association of Infant Mental Health and $65 for general registration. Register here: North Carolina Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health Association – Advanced Practice Reflective Supervision Training | Navigating the Complexities of Providing Reflective Supervision or Consultation: A Vignette-Based Training for Current RSC Providers

SUMMARY:Trauma-Responsive Communication Webinar Series: Navigating Difficult Conversations
DESCRIPTION:Join the second training in the Trauma-Responsive Communication Webinar Series from the Mid-Atlantic Regional Public Health Training Center. \nProfessionals working in public health\, health care\, and community settings often encounter high levels of stress—both in the communities they serve and within their own work environments. Experiences such as Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs)\, chronic stress\, and secondary stress can influence how people interpret interactions\, respond\, and navigate difficult conversations. In high-pressure settings\, communication can quickly shift toward conflict\, withdrawal\, or self-blame. This training examines how stress and moments of perceived criticism\, disconnection\, or misunderstanding can trigger defensive responses that shape how we communicate and relate to others. Participants will examine common responses that arise during challenging interactions and consider how these responses may affect themselves and others. The session will introduce trauma-responsive communication practices that help reduce defensiveness\, increase understanding\, and support more constructive conversations.\n\nLearning Objectives\nAt the conclusion of this webinar\, participants will be able to: \n\ndescribe how stress can influence interpersonal interactions; \nrecognize common defensive responses that may emerge during difficult conversations; and \nidentify trauma-responsive communication approaches that reduce defensiveness\, support empathy\, and promote constructive dialogue during challenging interactions. \n\nDate and Time\nTuesday\, June 2\, 2026\nnoon–1 p.m. Eastern\n\nLocation\nOnline. Information to access the course will be sent upon registration.\n\nTarget Audience\nThis presentation is appropriate for public health and clinical practitioners\, community health centers’ staff\, and social services personnel working in community settings.\n\nContinuing Education Credit\nContinuing education credits for certified public health professionals (CPH-CE\, 1 hour) are available. To receive credit\, participants must attend from beginning to end and complete an evaluation; no partial credit will be given. \nFor more information about this course or for assistance with registration\, contact marphtc@pitt.edu.
