SUMMARY:Training: Culturally Responsive Ethical Decision-Making
DESCRIPTION:Join El Futuro for this free 3-hour training on culturally responsive ethical decision-making on September 11 from 12-3pm. \nStandard ethical training often focuses strictly on risk management\, leaving providers ill-equipped when professional codes clash with the cultural realities of their clients. This interactive 3-hour training moves beyond “what to do when you have a dilemma” by examining ethics as a proactive\, culturally grounded practice. \nDrawing from current literature on transcultural ethical decision-making\, this session will assist providers in deconstructing standard Western ethical assumptions (e.g. rigid boundaries\, hyper-individualism) and evaluating how these assumptions can inadvertently harm Latine clients. Participants will explore common ethical friction points—such as dual relationships and confidentiality—through the lens of core Latine values like personalismo\, familismo\, and respeto. Finally\, attendees will learn and apply a structured\, transcultural decision-making matrix to complex case scenarios\, ensuring their ethical choices are both professionally sound and culturally affirming. \nNBCC and ASWB continuing education credit will be offered. \nRegister here.

DESCRIPTION:The Nasher Teen Council is currently accepting applications for the 2026 – 2027 school year! \nThe Nasher Teen Council (NTC) is a free after-school program for Durham County high school students. The NTC meets every Thursday evening throughout the school year (October – April) from 5:30 – 7:30 PM\, with the exception of breaks and holidays. Snacks\, dinner\, and parking are provided at all meetings. \nDuring the 2026 – 2027 school year\, the NTC will curate an exhibition focused on the environment\, climate\, and sustainability! Through this process\, students will gain behind-the-scenes experience in exhibition-making within art museums and engage in critical conversations about environmental justice. \nPrior arts and museum experience are not required. All students with an interest in art\, research and writing\, environmental sciences\, and community building are encouraged to apply! \nApplications are due September 13\, 2026 by 11:59 PM.

DESCRIPTION:Registration is now open for NCIMHA’s annual conference\, Hand in Hand: Promoting Early Relational Health. Come together to learn about infant and early childhood mental health (IECMH)\, two-generational approaches\, and maternal mental health. Join NCIMHA for 3 days of learning\, camaraderie and connection. Similar to IECMH\, two-gen approaches and maternal mental health\, Early Relational Health is the state of emotional well-being that grows from the mutual\, positive connections between babies\, toddlers\, and their caregivers. \nOctober 8-9: Two full in-person days at Cape Fear Community College in Wilmington\, NC \nOctober 15: One full day of virtual sessions \nThe total cost for participation is $175 for NCIMHA members\, $225 for non-members\, and $100 for students. Participants unable to join in person may choose to register for the 1-day virtual event for $75. Scholarships are available.
