SUMMARY:Webinar: Reconnect for Better Days for Infant & Early Childhood Professionals
DESCRIPTION:Join NCIMHA on April 23 via Zoom for this two-hour training designed for early childhood professionals that explores how stress impacts both young children and the adults who care for them. Grounded in the science of resilience\, this session will examine how stress shows up in the brain and body\, influences behavior\, and shapes relationships. It will also highlight a core infant and early childhood mental health principle: when adults feel more regulated and supported\, they are better able to offer the “headspace and heartspace” needed for attunement\, serve-and-return interactions\, and responsive caregiving that scaffolds healthy social-emotional development. \nTogether\, attendees will learn to recognize signs of stress in themselves and in young children\, and explore how ongoing or chronic stress can create cycles that feel hard to step out of—leaving us overwhelmed\, reactive\, or stuck on a kind of “merry-go-round” in our daily work. This session will help make sense of why this happens and\, most importantly\, what we can do about it. Building on the Reconnect for Better Days approach\, participants will engage with simple\, practical\, body-based tools to interrupt these cycles\, support regulation\, and strengthen resilience. \nRegister here: North Carolina Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health Association – Quarterly Webinar | Reconnect for Better Days for Infant and Early Childhood Professionals

SUMMARY:Teens Tackle Paper Streets & Civic Design: Charette 1
DESCRIPTION:There’s an unused plot of land right behind The Scrap Exchange on Chapel Hill Road. It’s officially mapped as a road on city plans\, but it was never built. Durham has about 700 of these “paper streets” across the city\, covering roughly 400 acres of unused land. This one is ours to reimagine. \necho’s Youth Advisory Council is leading a 4-part community charrette series to give this space a future shaped by the people who actually live and work nearby. Built on echo’s For Youth\, By Youth model\, this isn’t a project where young people are just invited to show up. They’re running it. \nCharrette 1 kicks off on Saturday\, April 25th\, and echo’s Youth Advisory Council needs YOUR input to get this started right. The ideas\, concerns\, and visions shared at this first event will directly shape the options presented at Charrette 2. This is the moment to get in on the ground floor. \nCome through. Share what you want to see. Leave your mark. \n  \n🗓 Saturday\, April 25\, 2026 \n⏰ 12–3pm \n📍 Behind The Scrap Exchange | 2050 Chapel Hill Rd\, Durham\, NC 27707 \n🌟 Free and open to the community \n  \nThere will be art\, interactive stations\, conversation\, food\, and drinks — and your voice will be on the record. \n  \n \n
