Basics
Before diving into the resources to help your organization become more trauma-informed, we encourage you to take some time to learn (or refresh yourself!) around what we consider to be the core concepts for a trauma-informed approach: adverse childhood experiences and resilience, positive childhood experiences, and trauma.
There are many ways to define these concepts, but the definitions we provide on this site are shaped by people in Durham who are involved in these efforts. In each section, we connect these definitions to those provided by other organizations and include links to resources where you can learn more about each concept.
