Application Deadline: Regional Youth Against Vaping Council

Join the Regional Youth Against Vaping Council! Youth ages 11–17 are invited to apply for a leadership role that helps create healthier, tobacco‑free places to live, learn, work, and play. Council members will share their voice, shape local prevention efforts, and work with peers across the region to inspire real change. Participants gain leadership experience, community engagement opportunities, and receive a small stipend for their involvement.

Purpose: The Regional Youth Against Vaping Council empowers young leaders to advocate for tobacco-free communities, educate peers about the dangers of vaping, and support local prevention initiatives. These counties include Alamance, Caswell, Chatham, Durham, Guilford, Orange, Person, Randolph, and Rockingham. The council will work alongside public health professionals to reduce nicotine use and promote healthy, tobacco free lifestyles.  

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Middle and high school youth aged 11-17, who live, work or attend school in Region 5 counties (Alamance, Caswell, Chatham, Durham, Guilford, Orange, Person, Randolph, Rockingham).
  • Passionate about public health, youth advocacy, or tobacco prevention.
  • Able to commit to monthly meetings (virtual or in-person)
  • Willing to participate in community outreach, campaigns, and leadership development activities.

Incentives:

  • Members will receive a small stipend to help cover the cost of travel to in person sessions.
  • This stipend is subject to members participation (75% attendance) and will be distributed via gift card.
