MLK Event: Celebrating the Legacy Through the Arts

Durham Parks and Recreation invites the community to a special program honoring the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. This year’s theme, “MLK: Remembering the Legacy Through the Arts,” celebrates Dr. King’s impact through creativity, expression, and community reflection.
Participants will enjoy a variety of engaging arts-based experiences, including:
- Visual art displays
- Open mic
- Live performances
- MLK Mini Museum
- Arts and crafts projects
- And more!
Are you a poet, spoken word artist, storyteller, or performer? Sign up to be a part of the celebration! All ages are welcome to join open mic. To sign up, email arthur.lockhart@durhamnnc.gov by January 2nd, 2026.
